The World BBQ Association is very proud of each and every team that participated in the WBQA European BBQ Championships 2016

Of course we couldn’t have done it without our great sponsors Landmann BBQ ENJOYMENT,   Ego Eichenhof,   Messe Bremen.  The ninety judges who attended for the three days – the Friday of which was devoted to Judge and Table Manager training;  our tireless and enthusiastic volunteers from LIT Catering College in Limerick who travelled from Ireland, Miriah Fogarty, Dawn O’Brien and Rebecca O’Mara.  We were also extremely grateful to Der Schulleiter des Schulzentrums am Rübekamp whose students worked remarkably hard over the weekend and were excellent ambassadors for their college and Bremen City under the stewardship of their student colleague Henry Tislau, as well as everyone who worked in the WBQA back office – WBQA Vice President Robert Meyer, Jeremy Fowler, Kenneth Switzer, Robert Suter, Benjamin Bartlett, Walter Bosch, Franz Pischelsberger, Kim Schulz, Sonnie Eis, Ernst Buettber PR, Kamilla Dobrzynska, David O’Donovan and Fíona O’Sullivan WBQA Office Manager.

On 17 July 2016 the BBQ world lost a very dear friend, Kent Nilsson Past President of SBQA

To honour and remember him, the WBQA created the Kent Nilsson award – “One Man Can Make a Difference.”  This award was presented to WBQA Vice President Robert Meyer for his outstanding contribution to the European BBQ Championships 2016 by Henrik Stensvad from Sweden.  Kent will always be warmly remembered by his friends in barbecue.
